Mr. Met–yep, the mascot—joined Twitter today
In advance of MLB opening day (on March 31), the beloved bobble-headed mascot finally joined the tweeting masses

Sports mascots are bizarre things: Even setting aside the outright offensive ones, most are a little ridiculous. Look at Bernie Brewer, who reps the Milwaukee Brewers and is notable for his oversize yellow mustache, or the Phillie Phanatic, who simply defies characterization.
But since we are New Yorkers, we have a soft spot for Mr. Met—he of the gigantic baseball head, and one of the few (that we can tell) married mascots, now that Mrs. Met is back. And now we have even more reason to love the Amazin's cheerleader: Mr. Met joined Twitter today, and so far, his tweets have been pretty amusing. Check ’em out below, and follow him @MrMet.
Sorry everyone, my fingers are too big. What I meant was “I’m on Twitter!” pic.twitter.com/4ZI84Oiw77— Mr. Met (@MrMet) March 10, 2014
I joined @Twitter because I have no ears and don’t speak but I have thumbs so it made sense.— Mr. Met (@MrMet) March 10, 2014
