“I go to a lot of random hip-hop events—SummerStage, Tools of War. SOB’s (200 Varick St at Houston St; 212-243-4940, sobs.com) brings a lot of independent music. Hopsin did a good show there. He’s a good rapper and also very with the people; he even jumped offstage and took pics with the crowd.”

“I enjoy going to street fairs, I love shopping the independent vendors and eating from food trucks like Korilla BBQ (locations vary, visit korillabbq.com). What I like about Korilla’s chicken tacos is that they put cucumbers on them. It doesn’t seem like it would belong but it makes them juicy.”

“The Low Brow Artique (143 Central Ave between Starr St and Willoughby Ave, Bushwick, Brooklyn; 718-366-8181, lowbrowartique.com) is a retail store but they also have art shows. They’ve shown work by some of my favorite artists, like Meres, Zimad, Bisc and Bishop.”

“I like the outdoor movies at Brooklyn Bridge Park (Furman St at Old Fulton St, Dumbo, Brooklyn; 718-802-0603, brooklynbridgepark.org). It’s just nice when the weather’s nice. And they’re free, so that’s definitely a plus. I watched The Warriors recently even though I’ve seen it like 400 times at home.”
