  2. On Saturdays and Sundays, there are about 50 homeless people on Second Avenue from 45th to 48th Streets, because there’s a shelter nearby. I give away a lot of clothing—I do offer food, but it’s cold out now so they usually want clothes. It’s very important to be of service to people.

  3. I like wine tastings and art events. I’ll go to Soho where there are three or four galleries that are within about a block of each other, and West 57th Street between Fifth and Sixth, which has about five or six galleries. No, I don’t remember their names, the way I don’t remember people’s phone numbers.

I like Dorian Grey Gallery (437 E 9th St between First Ave and Ave A; 516-244-4126, doriangreygallery.com); it’s owned by my friend. It specializes in new artists and I like seeing what the young people are doing. I like Pollock and Warhol, too; I was mentored by Warhol, one of the good things about being old. And he wasn’t always nice! They don’t tell you that.

On the weekends, I buy a bottle a day at Sussex Wines and Spirits (300 E 42nd St at Second Ave; 212-867-5838, sussexwine.com) because they’ve got a truckload of shiraz. They’re always on sale for $5, and they’re unbelievable! Beats medication.
