If this summer monsoon has you longing for winter fun, you'll be happy to learn that two new ice-skating rinks are coming to Brooklyn in mid-December. The long-awaited replacement to Prospect Park's defunct Wollman Rink is on track to open on time, and it will feature two separate areas (covered and open-air). For more info on the $74 million upgrades to the park's southeast tip, check out our behind-the-scenes look at the Lakeside complex.

Williamsburg is also getting an ice rink at the McCarren Park pool, after plans to develop the space fell through last year. But speaking of delays at McCarren, DNAinfo reports that the bubble for the tennis courts at North 12th Street and Bedford Avenue—planned for fall—is not happening after all (for now, at least). The dome would have provided lighting and a heated enclave to protect players from the winter elements.

What would you rather have—an ice-skating rink or year-round tennis?
