The Museum of Food and Drink's puffing gun at Summer Streets

The final installment of Summer Streets 2013—the pedestrian-friendly event that turns large swathes of Manhattan into a car-free paradise—featured one very unusual installment: The Museum of Food and Drink brought its 3,200-pound cereal-puffing gun to Foley Square, demonstrating how airy breakfast staples are made. The traveling exhibit, "BOOM! The Puffing Gun and the Rise of Breakfast Cereal," was funded in part by Kickstarter, and is the first of (hopefully) many food-focused exhibits that the foodcentric institution—which has yet to find a permanent NYC home—will host. Check out photos of the massive contraption above.
