The Masters Agility Championship at Westminster

For the first year in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show's 138-year history, a new event introduced mixed-breed dogs to the traditionally purebred competition. Saturday, February 8, saw the inaugural Masters Agility Championship at Pier 94, in which 225 mutts and pedigreed pooches were tested on their speed and athletic prowess. Indeed, instead of competing solely on the shininess of their coats, the canines got to show off their skills navigating courses fraught with obstacles such as ramps, poles, tunnels and seesaws. The champion was a seven-year-old border collie named Kelso.

Sounds like fun, eh? It was—click through the images above to witness the limber hounds in action. And don't worry, the classic Kennel Club pageant is going on today and tomorrow—stay tuned for photos.
