Party Wall by CODA at MoMA PS1

Every year, MoMA PS1 holds a Young Architects Program competition and installs the winning idea for the duration of the summer in its courtyard, where—coincidentally—it also holds its high-grade dance party Warm Up. CODA won the 2013 competition with Party Wall, which debuted last night.

The monumental structure was constructed with the offcuts from a skateboard manufacturer and boasts features like paddling pools, a water mister and giant suspended water-filled "pillows" to act as a ballast that will be illuminated once darkness falls. We particularly like that the bottom panels can be detached, and even used to sit on the dusty, gravel courtyard floor.

The Warm Up series begins tomorrow, with a headlining set from Detroit techno prime mover Juan Atkins. The line will be long, so arrive early (doors open at noon). There's always the museum's "EXPO 1: New York" exhibit to stroll through and the nearby M. Wells Dinette to grab a bite at.
