Say goodbye to a beloved dive: Motor City Bar to close

The LES mainstay will reportedly shutter by June.

Looks like Motor City Bar is the latest addition to the seemingly never-ending story of seedy downtown bars biting the dust. (RIP Mars Bar, Holiday Cocktail Lounge and Lakeside Lounge.) A regular DJ at the rock & roll watering hole, which has some of the best bathroom graffiti in town (see the photo above), told Brooklyn Vegan that the space’s lease expires this month, and owners plan to shut the dive’s doors for good by summertime at the latest. In other words, if downing PBRs and listening to the Stooges is your thing (God—could we ever go for that combo right now), head over there STAT.
