New York is an ever-changing city. Take the East Village for examplea totally different scene in the 1980s when it was home to legendary punk venue CBGB. The nabe has undergone a complete transformation since then just like so many New York neighborhoods. These images taken by John Short set out to capture these spaces lost in time and oblige the viewer to rediscover these forgotten spaces. Peep other famous venues and landmarks (both shuttered and non) such as Studio 54, St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery and more in the upcoming book Unforgotten New York: Legendary Spaces of the Twentieth-Century Avant-Garde.
