LEGOs as an artisitc medium is nothing new—Michel Gondry's 2002 video for the White Stripes' "Fell in Love with a Girl" is just one awesome example—but Nathan Sawaya's creations are something else altogether. The New York artist uses the colorful plastic bricks to build incredibly detailed sculptures; his LEGO interpretations of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" or Easter Island heads are a little gimmicky, sure, but they're also quite funny.

You can see a bunch of these pieces in "The Art of the Brick," which opens tomorrow at Discovery Times Square; the show will feature both new and old pieces, as well as mammoth sculptures like a 20-foot-long T. Rex, or a life-size human ripping his chest open. Get a preview of the exhibit by clicking through the slide show above.
