STREET-CART CHEF
Muhammad Rahman of Kwik Meal #1 (W 45th St at Sixth Ave, 646-729-8702). Mon--Fri 11am--9pm.
SPECIALTY
Tender chunks of papaya and spice-marinated lamb leg wrapped in a griddled pita ($6.50), handed to all manner of midtowners

RESTAURANT CHALLENGER
Snack (105 Thompson St between Prince and Spring Sts, 212-925-1040). Ciabatta loaf with roasted-tomato aioli and braised lamb, arugula and tomato slices ($9)
VALUE
"Reasonable. Lamb is expensive these days. It has to be $9, especially for a restaurant. Their overhead is so high. We sell a lamb sandwich for $6.50, so for a restaurant this is good."
TASTE
"I like this bread. It's looking fresh. There is some nice salad. The lamb is very good, but mine is a little bit different. I use more spices. I would say this is a nice sandwich. Mine tastes much better, but I would say this one is pretty good."
