Remember when we told you the 7-train extension would open in summer 2014? Unsurprisingly, that expected date has been pushed back, with the MTA now saying that November is likely. The project will bring the 7 train to the far West Side of Manhattan with a new station at 34th Street and Eleventh Avenue—perfect for all the office workers and residents going to Hudson Yards.
There have been countless delays since construction began in 2007. This time, elevators are to blame, according to NBC's Andrew Siff, who reported from an MTA Board meeting yesterday. Let's hope the transit agency sorts this one out soon; at this station, the subway platform is 11 stories below the street, making functional elevators pretty key.
