New York City is a tough place to find an apartment, as we all know. Everyone panics that they aren’t getting enough for their money, which is why we’re taking a weekly look at what you can get in this town for around $1,000 per person (and we promise there’ll be no nightmare apartment listing). No one wants to end up in the world’s most depressing apartment (and equally, not everyone has the cash to get the kind of place Obama could afford to rent if he moves to New York), so take a look at these attractive, spacious places—but do it quickly, because these will be gone before you know it. Come back next week for more of our top picks from real-estate site Zumper’s inventory.

And if you’re still struggling, try our NYC apartments guide.

Third Ave and E 95th St #3A

Three-bedroom on the Upper East Side, $3,795/month ($1,265 per person)

You may not be able to drop a Benjamin on lunch at Daniel like your UES neighbors, but move into this pad and you'll definitely have bragging rights when it comes to your digs. High ceilings, stainless-steel appliances (including a dishwasher) and a sprawling living area mark this minimalist space, which also features hardwood floors and overhead lighting. We'll be honest, the white-tiled bathroom is giving us hospital rooms vibes, but the double sinks will come in handy when you and your roommates are all trying to brush your teeth at the same time.

115 W 104th St #4

Three-bedroom on the Upper West Side, $3,750/month ($1,250 per person)

At least one of the the the "queen-size" bedrooms in this recently renovated apartment looks better suited for a set of bunk beds, but it's a small drawback given the space's many highlights, and it's not like you moved to NYC to stay in your room all day. (If you did, get out now before winter returns.) Anyway, the exposed brick, marble kitchen countertops and and built-in bookcase make this apartment one you could invite your parents to without shame. And did we mention there's a washer and dryer? It's awkwardly placed in the bathroom, but hey, it's there.

Two-bedroom in West Harlem, $2,150/month ($1,075 per person)

Can you imagine eating in an actual dining room everyday? In NYC? Probably not, but this rare urban experience could be your daily reality in this third-floor walk-up, which spans the entire floor of a renovated brownstone. The one-bathroom pad is on a tree-lined street and, in addition to the aforementioned dining room, also features a pair of storage closets, two decorative fireplaces and a massive living room.

First Ave and East 2nd St #F2

Two-bedroom in the East Village, $2,375/month ($1,188 per person)

Ignore the appliances in the foyer (we're assuming those will be installed by move in) and think about this place's perks: The living room is large enough to live in, the kitchen is equipped to do more than heat up Thai take out, and you can fit a Queen bed and your body in both bedrooms. On the top floor of an elevator building, the pad also boasts exposed brick and a dishwasher, and there's laundry in the basement. Start filling out your application now.
