    644 President St #2

Three-bedroom in Park Slope, Brooklyn; $3,400/month ($1,133 per person)

Sitting at the north end of the slope near 5th Ave—convenient for restaurants like Nana and Bogota, as well as trifling smaller stuff like the Barclays Center—this three-bed near the Union St R train doesn’t have much in the way of a kitchen, but the light and space are pretty impressive. You can bet that previous residents had a lot of very involved debates about kale in here.

    23rd Street & 24th Street #P1

    Three-bedroom in Astoria, $3,000/month ($1,000 per person)

The bathroom might give you pause, as might the listing claiming to be one block from the subway when the map underneath clearly shows otherwise, but the exposed brick is nice and the kitchen seems to be in good shape. It also has a courtyard space and a live-in super. Sadly, though, no pets allowed. We thought you were cool, Astoria!

    1st Ave & E.101 #6v

Three-bedroom in East Harlem, $2,995/month ($998 per person)

The living room has a balcony, the kitchen is new, utilities are included, pets are allowed, there are 1.5 bathrooms, the apartment is just a short walk to the 96 St 6 train, with the river close by on the other side, and it all comes to less than a grand a month each. Why don’t we all live in East Harlem again..?

    Nassau Ave #2

    Three-bedroom in Greenpoint, $2,999/month ($999 per person)

On the plus side, you get a big kitchen, an acceptable bathroom, lots of windows and beautiful hardwood floors. On the downside, you’re going to be 14 blocks from the nearest subway, but less than one block from the BQE. Welcome to New York apartment hunting!

    41 Henry St

Two-bedroom in Two Bridges, $2,383/month ($1,191 per person)

This newly renovated apartment right next to the Lower East Side has a dinky kitchen and bedrooms that the listing claims can fit “a queen size bed” (which the New York real estate agent to English dictionary would probably translate as being large enough to fit a queen size bed and nothing else) but it does appear to be clean and freshly painted, which is more than you can say for the Lower East Side.
