Classic bike tour of Brooklyn
The cycling fanatics at Get Up and Ride, a bike-tour company that launched last summer, lead this spin through a few Brooklyn neighborhoods. The 12-mile ride (which takes about four hours, so you’re going at a leisurely pace) includes stops both at historic sites, such as the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, and at newer spots, including Brooklyn Roasting Company in Dumbo. There’s even a quick break aboard the East River Ferry, which transports participants back to the Williamsburg starting point at the ride’s end. One of the stops—Brooklyn Grange—is a working farm located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and opened last summer. Meet at McCarren Park, Bedford Ave at North 12th St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Visit getupandride.com for more information.

Thank you Time Out NYC for saving my weekend. What a fantastic way to see Brooklyn and what a perfect area to ride through. Forget Manhattan - Brooklyn is amazing - too many off the beaten path places to see. The tour left one wanting to come back and explore some more. Excellent tour guides - get responsiveness leading up to the tour... I've recommended this to all my co-workers and friends.. I really had a great time!!!!!

Possibly one of the best things I have ever done in New York. It was perfectably paced. The pitstops were ideal and well timed. The tour guide also gave a wonderful mix of historic and trivial facts along the way, as well as a couple of personal stories that just demonstrated his passion for the areas he shows you as well as for the tour in general. He discussed historic events, architecture, art, music, food and all in between. I am quite a nervous cyclist but felt 100% safe throughout the whole tour. I would wholeheartedly reccommend taking this tour, it's just great and is a fantastic way to sightsee Brooklyn and to see the skyline of NYC. Book it - it is worth every cent!
