The Smith–9th St station to (probably) reopen sometime this week!

Rejoice, Brooklyn commuters! The station, which was closed for two years, should be open by Friday.

Smith–9th St subway station

Commuting to Gowanus and Carroll Gardens is about to get a lot easier: The MTA announced that the Smith–9th St station, which has been closed for repairs since 2011, will reopen to the public this week. According to The New York Times, F and G trains will begin stopping at the station starting at about 10:30am.

The MTA released photos in March of construction at the Brooklyn stop (you can see a few above), and Gothamist snapped an image showing some of the futuristic new elements. The reopening has been pushed back a few times, so this comes as good news for residents of the area around the station. (Will there actually be a crowd waiting to ride the G train? Maybe!)
