The flame-haired songstress with the golden voice returns with her fourth album, and if the music is as knockout ambitious as its defiant title, we have high hopes it may be her best yet. The disc is called The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You, and features M. Ward on guitar duties. 8pm; $35–$45.
Dour Brits Massive Attack may keep a low profile, but they spawned an entire music genre—trip-hop, in the ’90s—with an influence that reverberates to this day in the sounds of bands like the xx and the Weeknd. Don’t miss your chance to see the real deal in (understated) action when the crew arrives for the U.S. premiere of Massive Attack v Adam Curtis, a multimedia collaboration with the titular filmmaker. 8pm; $60.
Perhaps it was predictable that Trent Reznor would resurrect his seminal industrial-rock act for another tour, even after the long march of farewell shows NIN played in 2009. With a new family, a new label (Columbia), a new album (Hesitation Marks) and a sexy new throb to his sound, there’s no chance that Reznor’s sharp edge has dulled at all. Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Ave at Flatbush Ave, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn (barclayscenter.com). Oct 14 at 8pm; • Prudential Center, 165 Mulberry St bet Edison Pl and Lafayette St, Newark, NJ (prucenter.com). Oct 15 at 8pm; $54–$99.
