The annual LGBT Pride March is always a joyous event, but this year the parade on Fifth Avenue was especially triumphant. The legions of rainbow-decked celebrants were collectively beaming, and Governor Andrew Cuomo received thunderous rounds of applause all along the route. While the weekend was marred slightly by an irony-drenched reminder that LGBT struggles are not over—even in the birthplace of gay pride—the March itself was a thrilling and historic celebration of how far we've come.
