Mast Brothers Chocolate bars Photograph: Virginia Rollison
Mast Brothers Chocolate Brothers Michael and Rick Mast open a weekend-only retail store, selling their entire line of specialty chocolates, crafted directly from the bean in Brooklyn. Bars include an 81 percent dark chocolate brightened with fleur de sel, while a rotating roster of new creations will be available at the flagship location only. 105 North 3rd St between Berry and Wythe Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718-388-2625)
Flip If trying on clothes sounds like fun, wait till you try out the burgers at Bloomingdale’s latest food concession: Choose from three different Pat LaFrieda beef blends—hearty (short rib), sweet (brisket) and refined (Wagyu)—or opt for lamb, turkey or veggie, among others. With toppings like a fried egg, chili, Canadian bacon, and multiple cheeses, you can dress that baby up or down—just like the mannequins in the windows. Bloomingdale’s, men’s lower level, 1000 Third Ave between 59th and 60th Sts (212-705-2993)
Hanco’s Bubble Tea & Vietnamese Sandwich Hanco Tang opens a sister location to his Boerum Hill banh mi shop in Park Slope. Look for a familiar menu featuring a variety of Vietnamese sandwiches (pork, chicken, sardine, tofu) and bubble teas, including decaf options. 350 Seventh Ave at 10th St, Park Slope, Brooklyn (718-499-8081)
'inoteca Liquori Bar Restaurateur Jason Denton introduces the latest addition to his enoteca empire in the former Bar Milano space. Taking advantage of the spacious bar area, spirits and an expanded cocktail selection will join the lengthy Italian wine list, offered at a lower price point than at the upscale predecessor. Small plates, meanwhile, will include some of 'ino’s signature dishes, along with spiedini (skewered meats and seafood) and pastas. 323 Third Ave at 24th St (212-683-3035)
Scandinavian Grace Kaf The owners of a Williamsburg design shop devoted to Scandinavian housewares introduce a caf equally singular in its edible offerings. The teas and coffees sold at the four-seat space are all from Sweden, as is an array of sodas in flavors like lingonberry, while pastries are just like farmor used to make. Additional seating to come in the spring. 668 President St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, Park Slope, Brooklyn (718-622-4045)
Sugar & Spice Bake Shop Irina Brandler closed her storefront bakery on City Island two years ago to focus on wholesale business, but with the help of her chef brother, Alex Pertsovsky (Vong), it’s now reopened for brunch. Breakfast items like sour-cream pancakes are on the menu alongside heartier dishes, such as buttermilk fried chicken, and, of course, cake. 536 City Island Ave, Bronx (718-885-9229)
Yo In Yo Out Let’s hope the food at this classic French bistro from chef-owner Yoanne Magris (Joanna’s, Paradou) is a bit more serious than the name. Diners are invited to find out over cocktails and affordable menu items like lobster salad with frise and avocado ($12). 1569 Lexington Ave between 100th and 101st Sts (212-987-5350)
