Storm schmorm: This weekend, check out an iconic cultural landmark, commune with nerds or celebrate a travel mag's launch.

Yeah, yeah, we know—there's a storm coming to NYC in the next few days. But are you going to let a little snow ruin your weekend? No! You're a New Yorker—you're made of stiffer stuff than that! (But if the answer is an emphatic "yes, I'm not setting foot outside in a snowstorm," then fine—here's some stuff you can watch on Netflix while you're snowed in.) Here's a look at some of the fun things you can do this weekend:
Nerd Nite is back at Galapagos on Friday, and if you're a single lady or gent looking for love, you can sign up for a speed-dating session before the lectures begin at 9pm. (Caveat: The singles event is only open to men seeking women, and women seeking men. But if you're a lady seeking a lady, or a dude seeking a dude, perhaps you could check out the single New Yorkers that we found who are looking for a mate?)
Nowhere magazine, a literary journal about traveling, fetes itself during a launch party at the Gowanus Ballroom; your $10 admission nets you a one-year subscription to the publication, which has printed pieces about Kurdish rebel camps and visiting an Oregon Home Depot.
Go behind the curtain at the Apollo Theater, which opens its doors for its annual open house weekend on Saturday and Sunday. You can take a self-guided tour of the iconic venue, or catch a few film screenings, including one for Voices of Love: Whitney Houston and Her Family, a 2012 documentary about the late great singer.
Assuming the winter storm doesn't cancel everything this weekend, you can head to Chinatown to check out the annual Lunar New Year Firecracker Ceremony—hundreds of the sparklers will be set off in Sara D. Roosevelt Park. According to legend, the display wards off evil spirits.
Bone up (get it? GET IT?!?) on your carnal knowledge if you want to win big at Sexy Valentine's Trivia at Pacific Standard. The quiz show, hosted by Babeland, will test your mettle with sex-themed questions, just in time for Valentine's Day.
And, of course, there are many more fun activities happening. (Just remember to bundle up before setting out—and, you know, check to make sure these events are still happening. You never know what people may do because of a storm.)
