Highline Ballroom
Description
This new club, tucked away on the rock-deprived West Side across the street from Chelsea Market, is perfect on paper: the sound is top-of-the-heap, sightlines are pretty good and it’s even relatively clean. The bookings are also impressive, ranging from the experimental (Negativland) to dance fun (Robyn) and from old-guard stars (Lou Reed) to indie favourites (Bill Callahan). The overall vibe, however, can feel more LA than New York—especially those drink prices.
