I absolutely, truly, madly, deeply, love Dutch Kills. Brought to us by the owners of Milk & Honey, Dutch Kills brings the high quality cocktail experience to Long Island City, minus the pretension that plagues bespoke cocktail bars in Manhattan. The drinks are fantastic, the bartenders extremely talented, and the atmosphere classy, yet cozy. If you catch them on a slow night, the bartenders flex their talent by devising new cocktails based on your general taste and if you bug them enough they may even let (talented) friends try their hand at the bar's back piano. Food can be a bit pricy, but is still delicious - and sometimes super necessary after several cocktails.
The Long Island City bar is a welcome spot if you live nearby—and even if you don’t, it’s worth hopping the train to escape the crush of city bars. Keep your eyes peeled—the entrance can be hard to find since the sign is pretty small, but once inside, grab a bar seat or cozy table, then work your way through the affordable cocktail list while listening to old school jazz. Drinks are straightforward but perfectly made, and bartenders are willing to go off menu to craft a drink you’ll love. And they’re pretty too—ice comes out perfectly chipped, and fresh garnishes add aromatics.
