Seeing the sushi master practice in this bamboo-embellished space is the culinary equivalent of observing Buddhist monks at prayer. Counter seating, where you can witness—and chat up—the chefs, is the only way to go. Prime your palate with a miso soup and segue into the raw stuff: petals of buttery fluke; rich eel; dessert-sweet egg custard; nearly translucent discs of sliced scallop over neat cubes of milky sushi rice. Still craving a California roll? Move along.

Top quality sushi and sashimi. Tuna and bonito out of this world. Great ice cream. Loved the quality, the service and the presentation. Top quality is priced accordingly, but worth it. If you like proper Japanese food and ambiance do go.

What a find. Thank you Peter D for the recommendation. Possibly the finest sushi I have eaten in a very long time. Go to midtown and eat there. You will not be disappointed.

The location of Yasuda still seems odd to me but the peaceful decor and atmosphere inside make you forget that you're in midtown. Definitely sit at the bar, it's so much fun to talk to the sushi chef's and be able to ask questions. The sushi here is BEYOND fresh, after going here once, eating sushi anywhere else is just sad. With that being said, it is pricy but worth it. My mouth is watering just writing this. My recs -- spanish mackerel, king salmon, and toro.

I'm not a big fan of sushi, but with the exception of the sea urchin, this was actually pretty good.
