My favorite steak joint in the city!I love this place and love that it is a walk away from my apartment! The scene feels like you’ve stepped back into time, the décor is perfect, the cocktails amazing, the seafood is phenomenal and the steaks are also fantastic. This place has the right mix of great service, traditional setting, great food and great vibe, definitely make a point to go here!
My husband and I frequent Strip House as it’s just around the corner from our home. Because we usually dine at the bar (the bartender is great!), we’ve almost never had to wait for seating. I am not a meat connoisseur by any means, but judging by my husband’s enthusiasm and my tastebuds, the steak here is pretty great. We usually share a slab of steak because the cuts are generous. I ALWAYS ALWAYS order their sautéed wild mushrooms. They are like crack to me. Other favorites of ours include the bacon, tuna tartare, beet salad and mac & cheese.
I've heard the arguments about Luger's and I'm just not subscribing to it. Strip House has the best filet mignon that I have ever had. Yes, I know that the Porterhouse has more flavor and blah, blah, blah. Never once have I had anything shy of an absolutely succulent piece of beef. The red bordello like ambiance adds to the name along with the playful silhouettes of nude women on the napkins. Creamed spinach with truffle oil is a fantastic side. If you really need more meat, get the bacon salad as a start. I've heard the seafood choices are quite tasty as well, but I have yet to try any. They have a rich wine list, emphasis on rich, but you can find a moderately priced red to wash down your feast.
