My mom grew up down the street from this all-star pizza joint. She didn't know about it until I told her a little while ago. I can't imagine if it it was I who had grown up within smelling distance of Di Fara. My mom had the the the chance to go while they were just getting cooking. I'd be in mourning for years over a childhood deprived of their cheesy goodness and failure to check it out before the gazillion best pizza lists had at it. But anecdote aside, Di Fara does not disappoint. The pizza is a solid 4.5/5 stars and the experience makes up the remaining .5. Just endure the hour+ wait (shorter on weekdays) to see the legend himself clip the freshest basil in town onto pie after pie. There's plenty written about this place so I'll leave you with this...
It's expensive and time consuming, authentic and delicious; a memorable experience worthy of the trek at least a few times in you lifetime. Bonus points for those of you who bike there via Ocean Parkway like I usually do!
