Pan seared scallops with golden beets at Salt & Fat
Sunnyside native chef Daniel Yi has brought his fine-dining chops—earned at Sapa and Monkey Bar—back to the neighborhood with his New American restaurant, a proper date-night eatery in an underserved area. His eclectic menu leans on playful flavor combinations—some executed more cleanly than others. The fried chicken, which is brined, cooked sous vide in buttermilk, and seasoned with cayenne, paprika and garlic, is some of the best we’ve had in the city. But Crack ’n’ Cheese, featuring deep-fried potato gnocchi, sloppily sauced with béchamel and bacon, doesn’t live up to its habit-forming promise. Still, it’s easy to forgive a few average dishes at a restaurant offering so many charming extras: bacon-fat popcorn to start, and miniature Korean yogurt drinks served along with the check.

Finally, a joint in Queens!!! Right off the 7 train as well!. Pretty spacious place, easy to get a seat.


The menu is relatively small and their food is tapas sized - order a ton of things so you can share!!

Apparently the snack food is this popcorn cooked in bacon fat, in all honesty, all I tasted was salty popcorn.

Nevertheless the rest of my night here was amazing. Started off with Korean BBQ Wraps - marinated kalbi meat with crispy onions in a lettuce wrap - a pretty delightful creation.

The cripsy pork with fried egg on top - That was my favourite dish of all time. Pop the egg, smear it with the pork  = HEAVEN.

The fatty duck breast - really good, they recommend it to be cooked medium-rare but if you feel that is too much for you, you can change it.

Will be back to be spending all my money.
