Description
From the 1920s until the early 1960s, Union Square had a reputation as the favorite location for rabble-rousing political oratory, from AFL-CIO rallies to anti-Vietnam War protests. Following September 11, 2001, locals poured into the park, gathering to comfort one another in their collective grief.
