Knitting Factory
Description
Once it was the city’s home for avant-garde jazz, but the new owners have instituted a broader (read: more rock-oriented) booking policy. Still, you can traverse entire galaxies of music just by moving from room to room (the club has three). The main performance space hosts indie stalwarts (Oneida, Quasi, Ted Leo), metal and hard-rock bands (Circle, Big Business) and genre jumpers (Arto Lindsay, Sun City Girls). The Tap Bar and the Old Office specialize in local artists but are as wide open musically as the main space.
