After a roaring debut in the 1920s, the Palais de la Med (like many of its louche aristocratic patrons of the era) underwent a period of inexorable decline until its eventual demolition in the late '70s. Only its iconic (and listed) art deco façade was preserved, and it is within this historic shell that the Concorde group has inserted a thoroughly modern, luxurious hotel. As you might expect from the prom-front location, the sea views here are extraordinary, both from the guestrooms (though not all of them) and from the public spaces, notably the beautiful pool on the third floor. Locally inspired haute cuisine comes by courtesy of talented chef Philippe Thomas in the hotel's Le Padouk restaurant.
