Cabaret New Burlesque

Ever since 'Moulin Rouge!' hit our screens in 2001, burlesque, cabaret and striptease have been stripped of their seediness and thrust, hips first, into the limelight. Riding high on this newfound legitimacy, France’s famous Cabaret New Burlesque comes to the Cirque d’Hiver this September after a tour of Nantes. Expect high-brow stripteases and lots of tassel twirling in a show that's at once funny, sexy and subversive. Proud of their curves, the performers project an image that is seductive and liberating for women – and what’s more, it’s performed by women, for women. The stage turns into a forum for absolute freedom and raucous exhibitionism, full of ostrich feathers and bright pink lipstick. The Fellini-esque performers will be joined by the likes of Rossy de Palma (the Spanish actress who was brought to fame by Pedro Almodóvar), the husky voice of Arthur H and the electro-rock group Poni Hoax.
