生长 Genesis

'Genesis' is a show about the origin of things, no less. The Belgian dancer-turned-choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui has earned a reputation for his genre-bending (and indeed limb-bending) shows. For this typically ambitious project, he's teamed up with dancer Yabin Wang (who made an unforgettable appearance in 'House of Flying Daggers') for a sumptuous East-meets-West spectacle. Things kick off with an operating table encircled by a team of medics and a clutch of spinning glass platforms, and unfold from there – suffice to say that the dead come to life, and there are plenty of airborne stunts. It's unclear how the broader theme ties into the narrative, but it goes without saying that we can't wait to find out.
