Listening to The Missing Room, the latest album from the Franco-American band Moriarty, director Marc Lainé decided to transform it into a full-length play. From hypnotic ballads (‘Isabella’) to sung stories (‘I Will Do’), Lainé was inspired to create a show that straddles music, theatre and art. Three actors play out frequently dramatic and often macabre crime scenes, eerily narrated by the voice of Rosemary Stanley. The fluid setting expertly, superbly mixes projections of drawings by Philippe Dupuy with music and drama. The magic of the theatre is contained in this dialogue between artistic forms as they ebb and flow. Sumptuous.
