Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars

The Haut Marais, (now ‘Haut-Ma’, following the New York-style truncation already at work in South Pigalle, ‘So-Pi’), is one of the hippest places in Paris to go for dinner and drinks. Until midnight, that is, when the buzz is extinguished like a candle as the crowds migrate to Pigalle or the Grands Boulevards in search of music and dance floors. Jackets is an attempt to redress the balance, the work of the team behind Pompon bar, and graphic artist Andrew Woodhead, with an underground vibe behind the steamy windows. Inside, it's a little like a friendly neighbourhood pub, as much seedy as trendy – all pints and rock music, leather sofas and well-turned-out men and girls in shorts and ripped tights looking for their very own Pete Doherty. The rooms are lined with black lacquer, the only decoration coat hooks for hanging all those leather jackets. Bar prices for spirits, shooters and cocktails are as standard.
