Chez Gerard restaurant in the Paris suburb of Neuilly sur Seine is an authentic brasserie featuring French bourgeois cuisine in a fascinating setting. But before we go further, you should know that this delightful Chez Gerard has no association with the French restaurant group in London and the UK. This Chez Gerard is an old bistrot with classic red chequered table cloths, traditional wooden seating and a collection of bright posters from the cinema and American circuses. The effect is funky and fun. The monthly-chaning menu is certainly traditional, but with some charming innovative touches here and there. Think mille-feuille of beetroot and foie gras with balsamic, endive soup with beer-steamed mussels, lamb tagine. The wines are well-chosen and the service is bright and attentive.
