A relaxed atmosphere greets those who enter between the tables set for two either of Les Coulisses unaffected entrance. A neighbourhood French bistro in the 9th, just north of the theatres of the Paris’s 2nd arrondissement, its name translates as backstage or behind the scenes. And that’s the kind of the feeling here; of being somewhere a bit special, happy in its own unhurried world of traditional French cooking. Nourish yourselves with simple, well plated classics like snails, roasted lamb chop with rosemary, and honey-roasted duck breast. Chalked up on blackboards with other specials and set menus, Les Coulisses’s catch of the day is worth asking about.
