Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

With its Anglo-Saxon clientele, friendly staff and even Rice Krispies cakes, the Sugarplum Cake Shop is a sweet-toothed shot of British style in Paris’s university quarter. The calorific window display invites you to throw thoughts of dieting to the winds and get stuck in to layer cakes, soft and chewy cookies, creamy cupcakes and more.

Once you’ve collected your order, you can choose between the little sofa near the entrance, long communal oak tables, or more private reading corners, popular with students from the nearby Sorbonne balancing their cakes with their laptops. It's often noisy and busy, but if you don’t mind this, the cakes are delicious – just a shame the house lemonade comes in tiny, mean glasses, but you can’t have everything. Note the address down for cakes to order as well, for weddings, birthdays, baptisms and bar mitzvahs.
