Super busy in summer, its chic shaded terrace on Boulevard Raspail near the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris 14thdraws a near-constant crowd to Tavola Di Gio. Smart table service is offered both outside and inside this spacious traditional-meets-modern Italian restaurant. The spotless white and stone colour scheme shows an easy contemporary elegance, while the menu offers most of the traditional favourites - from spaghetti bolognese to seafood risotto via osso bucco - but isn’t limited to them. Desserts are lovely. Daily specials keep things fresh for Tavola Di Gio regulars. And there are a fair few of them. Better than average Italian wine list, too.

Defrauded us out of 15 euros when they insisted that we hadn't put enough money on the plate, we know very well that we had but the waiter had taken the plate away and then returned a few moments later demanding more money after swapping one of our 20 euro notes for a five. Don't go to this restaurant as they are not to be trusted.
