Every neighbourhood should have a restaurant like Zinc Caïus, a newly sprouted, pocket-sized off-shoot of critically-acclaimed Caius up the street, both a chic stroll from l’Arc de Triomphe. Jean Marc Notelet’s new born is a cosyish industrial-style space with just 16 covers and a short ‘n’ simple French menu. Written up proper bistro-style on a chalkboard, it runs the range from warm Puy lentil and lardo salad to fish, and house-made boudoin and hand-cut steak tartar. Desserts like the classic crème caramel, and the wine choice, are very good, too. The best table (or rather, high stool) to ask for at Zinc Caius? Number 5 should do the trick.
