After showcasing the works of Lee Miller, Diane Arbus and Berenice Abbott, the Jeu de Paume has devoted an entire exhibition to another great, but less well-known photographer of the 20th century: Eva Besnyo (1910-2003). Yes, another great female artist, more urban landscapes of the 1930s, more black and white with a touch of the avant-garde. More of the same – yet when we find ourselves in front of one of Besnyo’s works, we get the impression that we are looking at the photo for the very first time, as her magnetic talent crosses the boundaries of the eighth art of photography.
