Whether you’re a Paris virgin or a veteran, you can sign up online to become a ‘Parisian for a day’ with this association of local volunteers. Everyone, from students, retirees and ex-pats – all raring to share historical titbits and tips about their beloved city – take you to their special ‘insider’ shops, hidden courtyards, bars and streets on a three-hour walk around town. There’s a maximum of six people per group, but separately registered people can do the same walk if you all speak a common language, which is more often than not, English. And the best bit: it’s free! Although your donation will help them to continue their services.
To make sure someone is available for the dates your require, it’s best to apply at least three weeks in advance.
