Le Petit Caboulot has all the trappings of any friendly neighbourhood bistro. Brik de chèvre aux pommes, a crisp pastry of apple and melting goat’s cheese on a bed of salad, starts things off nicely. Follow with duck confit (make sure you ask for it bien grillé), which is dark and succulent, with a skin that just crunches to perfection. Mosaic pillars, a huge curved bar and a bright collection of old enamel adverts evoke a bygone era.
