The former haunt of Sartre, de Beauvoir et al now draws a less pensive crowd that can be all too ‘m’as-tu vu’, particularly at weekends. The hot chocolate is still good (and the only item served in generous portions) – but, like everything else, it’s costly. If you must, visit on a weekday afternoon when the editors repair, manuscripts in hand, to the inside tables.
