Tour company 4 Roues sous 1 Parapluie (‘Four Wheels under an Umbrella’, also a nickname for the 2CV thanks to its quirky shape) has five of these classic Gallic vehicles. Under founder Florent Dargnies, a team of bilingual chauffeurs decked out in classic flat caps expertly weave through the tricky cobblestoned streets of Paris, providing local commentary and advice on dining and nightlife.

The convertible, soft-top roof (the titular parapluie protecting driver and passenger from the elements) gives you panoramic views of major sights like the Champs-Elysées and the Palais Garnier, as well as the scenic hilltop village of Montmartre, whose steep and narrow streets are off-limits to the more traditional bus tours.

Tours last 90 minutes and run every two hours; the three hour version can be made to a customised itinerary.
