This fine Marais building contains 140 rooms depicting the history of Paris, from pre-Roman Gaul to the 20th century. The original 16th-century rooms house Renaissance collections; the first floor shows the period up to 1789 with furniture, applied arts and paintings in period interiors; 1789 onwards is detailed in neighbouring Hôtel Le Peletier de St-Fargeau.
