The building of a church here began in 1764 before Napoléon gave instructions to design a ‘Temple of Glory’ dedicated to his Grand Army. After his fall construction slowed; the building, by now a church again, was consecrated in 1845. The exterior is ringed by Corinthian columns, with a frieze of the Last Judgement above the portico.
