Although the terrace here attracts the summer hordes in search of Berthillon ice-cream, sitting at a window table overlooking the Seine and Notre-Dame with a coffee and its accompanying plate of chocolate truffles is a favourite Ile St-Louis pastime. Egg- and seafood-based brunch dishes are popular, as are the house desserts, including a fine gratin aux poires, but avoid the rest of the menu. And don’t be fobbed off into the usually empty tearoom next door.
