Hôtel les Degrés de Notre-Dame review
On a tiny street across the river from Notre-Dame, this vintage hotel is an absolute gem. Its ten rooms are full of character, with original paintings, antique furniture and exposed wooden beams (nos.47 and 501 have views of the cathedral). It has an adorable restaurant and, a few streets away, two studio apartments that the owner rents to preferred customers only.

My wife and I stayed at the Grands-Degres de Notre Dame on our honeymoon. We were in the top floor room (no.501 I believe) and had a spectacular view of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Being adventuresome, I even climbed onto the rooftop and got some absolutely stunning photos that would be impossible to get anywhere else. The price was less than another couple we met were paying to stay in a hotel in Montparnesse (spell?) and their price didn't include breakfast, which by the way, is exceptional...fresh croissants and butter, chilled milk, freshly squeezed OJ and good coffee. Other tourists we met couldn't believe the low price for such a prime, central location. We walked to EVERYTHING except Mont Martre. The room accomodations were a bit spartan but certainly acceptable (after all, we were only sleeping there not entertaining guests or anything). When we go to Paris again we want to stay at the Grand Degres de Notre Dame.
