The most brightly-lit "cave" I've ever been in really destroyed the mood. The music and dancing were fine but it was WAY too bright and the seating is uncomfortable. The drink prices are absolutely ridiculous. 5 euro for a coke? 11 euros for a CRAPPY glass of cognac? Give me a break. The service at the bar was really rude and too.
From the magic of my first discovery in the fogged shrouded Caveau so many years ago, Huchette remains a very special attraction ...whether you leave with just a smug feeling of enjoyment or take off with the musicians for their favorite "play some more" bars in the wee hours..Very special indeed.
