Normand is a new addition to the Palais-Royal. The 38-year-old designer, who has collaborated with Lanvin, Pucci and Christophe Lemaire, launched his own label in 2000 - an exuberant combination of pop art patterns with gangsta cuts, satin puffballs in peacock colours and blousons made of the kind of baroque fabrics favoured by African potentates. The man is treading the line between madness and genius.
