WORK: Propositions for the Future is the culmination of a six-month-long project, which required Samsudin Wahab to travel back and forth between Selangor and Selinsing, his birthplace in Perak. In the name of research, the artist laboured in paddy fields, collected oil palm fruit, dug for mangrove worms and worked in a chicken slaughterhouse. These activities were flashbacks to his childhood while also serving as a reminder of the tough realities of farm life and local mystical legends. The open-studio acts as a platform for Wahab's documentation, works-in-progress and propositions for the future.
